it's because I'm guessing you do too.

What an odd development.

What an unexpected development to have occurred today

involving your favorite football team

and their presumed number one quarterback.

Now, I'm going to catch everybody up on this, but I'm going to warn you in advance.

It's not simple.

What the Steelers did, hang on, I'm going to read it right off the screen here.

They placed what's called an unrestricted free agent tender on Aaron Rogers.

Now, he has been and remains an unrestricted free agent.

He can sign with anybody, including the Steelers.

If he signs this tender from the Steelers, he would get a 10% raise over what he made last year.

So that would put him at around 15.5 million. Still, obviously, not much for a quarterback.

According to Chris Halleck's reporting, the team did this to make sure that they get draft

compensation if Rogers was to go sign somewhere else. The deadline for draft compensation if you lose somebody passed on Monday.

So this way the Steelers make sure that they're still in that family.

It also allows the Steelers to gain exclusive rights to Rogers if he doesn't sign with another team before July 22nd,

which is when training camps are supposed to open.

Okay.
