I'm Dan Kovachovich of D.K. Pittsburgh Sports, if the surroundings look a little bit unfamiliar to you, they sure don't to me.

This is where I live. And I am here because I've been

booted out by necessity from the studio, from our headquarters, which is about a couple of blocks

away here downtown since the boss is putting the place through a pretty extensive physical renovation,

meaning taking down wallpaper, putting up paint.

We're going to be doing some other things there, taking advantage of a little bit of a lull this time of year.

Pirates are out of town.

NFL draft is over, so she's all over that stuff.

In the meantime, double shot, like the cockroach in nuclear winter, persists in our lives.

And we're going to talk about the Pirates trip.

It's coming up to Houston and Atlanta.

That's a tough one on both counts, especially the second part of that.

We're going to talk about Carmen Maginsky and his status.

We're going to talk about Braxton Ashcraft, because there's no way anybody should be getting away with any discussion about this team without bringing up Ashcraft.

Otherwise, you're just being excessively negative because he has been, my goodness.

What a find, what a breakout.

However it is that you choose to characterize it he's

26 years old but he is pitching like a star he's top 12 in pretty much every category

across major league baseball he's got better numbers than paul skeins in some of those in some of

those columns just really really really good stuff from him.
