Hey guys, welcome to Double Shot Pirates.

I'm Dan Kovachvich of D.K. Pittsburgh Sports, and this is your setup to tonight's latest loss by the Pirates to the Cardinals.

Cardinals who are now 5 and 0 against them on the season,

the Cardinals who were supposed to stink this season.

See, this isn't like old times when the Cardinals would own the Pirates. This is like

new times when the Cardinals own the Pirates. It's been a strange scene, hasn't it, Jose? I mean,

they're not that great against everybody else. Yeah, I mean, I don't know. The more I see this Cardinals

team, I think maybe, you know, you look at certain aspects of this club.

And obviously when you got a guy like JJ Weatherholt makes such an immediate impact, most of it coming against the pirates.

And then you have guys who have, you know, started out their major league careers not on the best foot and have turned things around.

Like Jordan Walker, Nolan Gorman, obviously had a big hit last night with the home run off of Evan Sisk.

You have guys that are getting better.

And, you know, I don't know if we've seen that as much from the young guys that have, you know, been donning a Pirates uniform over the last couple

years. So that's what happens. When you, when you have guys who are getting better and you have

some good young talent, you know, the offense is going to outweigh, you know, whatever the

concerns might be about their pitching stuff.

Tonight's pitching matchup has Carmen Maginsky on the hill for the pirates and it's funny we don't

really worry about Maginsky much anymore he used to be the focus he's kind of leveled off to an

extent I don't know that he's become extraordinary or whatever but we don't talk about him as much anymore because we're

now talking about Bubba Chandler in the rotation.
