I'm Dan Kovachovich of D.K. Pittsburgh Sports.

I'm referring to the NFL draft, but tonight the pirates are taking on the rays who've won six in a row,

who are really, really, really good at baseball, a consistent basis.

And they represent, I don't want to say one of the best tests,

because you don't know who's going to end up being really good out of this.

The Mets have spent so much money.

You would think they're going to have some kind of surge.

The Cubs are expected to be universally the team that wins at Central.

We'll see how all that goes.

One thing you know about the race on an annual basis is that they're going to compete.

They're going to be up there with all the big boys in the AL East, the big spenders and so forth.

And they're going to be smarter than everybody else.

So given that your team just got through a series in which they didn't look all that smart out on the field and they weren't doing some smart things, this might be a good opportunity for them.

The pitching matchup has Bubba Chandler against Nick Martinez, the right-hander, who's 35 off to a strong start for Tampa Bay.

Chandler is the guy that I want to talk about a little bit today.

Kind of the forgotten prospect, if you will, the forgotten super prospect, number one pitching prospect in all of baseball.

You say that and you think you're talking about Paul Skeens.

You think you might have been talking about Jared Jones a couple of years ago.

Now maybe talking about Seth Hernandez before long.
