I'm Dan Kovachovich of D.K. Pittsburgh Sports.

We're going to talk today about the path,

the foundation that I think is still being laid by Kyle Dubus. Now, before anybody asks,

Dubus does meet with us reporter types tomorrow at noon up in Cranberry.

My guess, and it's an educated guess at that, is that he's going to not just address this issue,

I think he's going to pound it, whichever way he expects that he's going to be going.

And remember, it's not always, let's go for the Stanley Cup or let's completely tank the way it

seems to get portrayed in, you know, social media circles.

It doesn't have to be one or the other.

As the Penguins have shown and other teams have shown,

you can and probably should do both in a salary cap environment.

The cap changes everything about the way this stuff goes.

I'm going to guess that he's going to continue on some hybrid path,

but I'm also going to guess that he's going to do it with a greater emphasis on who it is

from the minor leagues, currently in the minor leagues,

it really needs to get their rear ends to Pittsburgh.

And that's going to be, to me, a pivotal issue for this franchise, really, between now and the

2026-27 NHL season.

At some point, rather, you have to start getting some of these players here and productive.

And please don't tell me anybody's being blocked.
