Penguins get themselves quite the value today in signing a franchise icon, a treasure, a point-a-game, producer, even at his advanced age.

Yvgeny Malkin is back at one year and 5.5 million.

And boy, did this not require even a, like a millifraction of the fuss that was attached to it.

Now, I'm going to make one exception and not just because I played a tiny

part in it. That was when Gino was complaining to the microphones and to the cameras in New York

about his own perception that Kyle Dubus wasn't communicating with him,

wasn't sounding as if he wanted him back,

and he went into a little bit of a panic mode.

And the fact that there was a group of us,

myself included,

who were there,

who were invested in getting the news and everything

from him, were there to put it into print immediately. It was right after the game. He's a little

bit hot and everything else. It ended up becoming really just a great big nothing burger.

My understanding has been that it's been a nothing burger all along.

I understand that there are places where you read things, you see things, you hear things, depending on the type of medium.

It'll sound like they're to the contrary.

That'll want to sound like it's a big dramatic thing.
