One might think that a quarterback of some significant repute elsewhere in the Commonwealth

would have gotten a lot more attention than Drew Allers had in western Pennsylvania to date.

The NFL scouting combine really gets going today in terms of meetings, activity, media sessions,

lots and lots of media sessions, including Omar Khan.

And then the day after tomorrow, the whole meat market thing really gets rolling.

You start seeing everybody jumping, lifting, running, throwing, catching, all that fun made-for-TV stuff that also offers some real measurables that can be of use to NFL teams, including the one that's picking 21st overall.

A year ago, if I had told you that the Steelers would still be looking for a quarterback,

actually, at any point in the past half decade, if I'd told you that.

And then I'd told you that Drew Aller would be just sitting there waiting for them.

You would have had some people pretty excited. And not just because there are more Penn State

alumni in Allegheny County than in any other county anywhere.

But Aller, after a really strong and upward arrow kind of 2024 season for the Nittney Lions,

took multiple steps backward in 2025, in large part because of a broken ankle, and someone who'd been

almost universally projected, meaning way out projected, as a no-brainer first rounder,

is now seen as more of a day two kind of gamble. Now, I haven't seen a ton of quarterback

footage yet from this class, but I have seen plenty of Aller. And the number one thing
