Sports. This is Daily Shot of Steelers. It comes your way bright and early every weekday. If you're

in town that I cover in the same place that you found this. The cuts are

upon us. Omar Khan will not keep four quarterbacks on the roster, not guessing at that. And so

it would appear that Thompson, who entered this summer, has the Steelers only quarterback signed to a futures contract,

eventually, by the time training camp got going, became their fourth quarterback,

would as such still being the fourth quarterback be the one who gets cut?

Not so simple. There are good reasons for this.

There are bad reasons for this. The good reasons are the ones that you've been watching every

few days in these preseason games. Dude completed 73.2% of all of his passes for 498 yards, four touchdowns, and one pick.

He averaged 8.9 yards per attempt.

Now, you can say, as I'm about to, that he did all of this against second teamers,

third teamers.

But then you also have to be fair, which is to add that

those were the only passes that were available to him, the ones that he made. And he did make

them. And he made them in a lot of different forms. He made them with precision. He made

them with conviction. He saw a guy get open. He saw a play unfolding. He nailed it. He didn't

mess around with it. He didn't put it up. He didn't hope. He nailed it. What's more, I can tell you

from having spent a little bit too much of my summer in La Trobe, he was pretty good out there, too.

He wasn't quite that good, but he was pretty good.

That's the good, the bad.
