To date, Mike McCarthy has added one individual, count him one.

His new staff, that'll be Adam Henry, as the wide receivers coach.

And there's a long, long way to go.

at D.K. Pittsburgh Sports that Patrick Graham will become the new defensive coordinator,

arriving here by way of the Raiders.

As I'm putting this together, just before dawn on Thursday, that has not happened.

He has not been hired.

He has not been inside the building.

Now, if it does happen, it'll obviously be a second piece to this staff and really, arguably, the most important one.

I mean, think about it.

McCarthy has acknowledged he's going to call his own plays offensively, so his coordinator is going to be someone more angled in the design area than in execution or enforcement,

which would leave the polar opposite scenario that we saw for a long time under Mike Tomlin,

which is that the defensive coach would stand alone, would be almost singularly responsible for everything,

certainly from the oversight standpoint that happens on that side of the ball.

Now, at the risk of prematurely bursting the bubble here, Graham's not going to excite anybody,

not the way the criteria seems to have been set up by the fan base over the past couple of weeks for all of these hires.

He's not super young. He's 47, so he's not old either. He doesn't have the sexiest resume.
