But the mind never strays too far from

football, even if it does stray from common business sense, which is to say every show, like all of

them, should be about quarterbacks, or controversy, or speculation slash gossip. Well, clearly I'm doing this all wrong because I want to talk today about Spencer Anderson.

I've mentioned this in a glancing way a few times over the past couple of weeks. I want to put a sledgehammer to it. I understand

that there's going to be continuing interest expressed by Omar Khan in available guards through

free agency. I also understand that Isaac Selmaul just got paid a gazillion dollars. And to be

specific, at age 32, he just signed a three-year $31.5 million deal off the open market with the

Cardinals. And that's just not a good investment on Arizona's part.

I don't care about the Cardinals, so I'm not going to take that commentary any further.

But there's no way that Isaac should be making $10 million a year.

At his age and after what, at least per my perception was a gradual, not traumatic,

but definitely visible decline over the past couple of years. And on top of that, his Pittsburgh

tenure represented a decline from his Philadelphia years.

So that tells me that if you're going to get a guard out of free agency,
