Simmons is a free agent.

Simmons is not in the peak of his career.

Seems like we've been having this conversation a lot lately.

He'll be entering his age 32 season, and he's not coming off the most eye-popping numbers

of his nine years in the NFL.

Two interceptions.

Now, that brings his career total to 32, which is really impressive.

Seven passes, defense isn't a bad number, 62 tackles.

But for the first time, in six years, he wasn't a Pro Bowl selection.

For the first time in three years, he wasn't an all-pro selection.

And at the same time, it's not like he, you know, drove off the end of the cliff either.

It certainly makes for an intriguing scenario, in part because Simmons has never played in the

playoff game. Like, not once, not in a game. And unlike, you know, when we talk about T.J.

Watt and these guys who've never won a playoff game, he's never even suited up for one.

So when he says, and he tends to be a pretty prolific public speaker, that he just wants to find a contender.

He wants to find somebody that he can help win at all, not just get into a playoff game, but become a Super Bowl champion. He probably has a

more convincing case than most would when they say that. Now, according to Simmons and his agent,

the reason that he's not signed yet is exactly that. He wants to see what kind of opportunities

come open. He's also mentioned specifically

by name the Eagles, as well as a couple other teams. The Steelers weren't one of those teams,
