draft week first round Thursday night Lynn Swan will be announcing Pittsburgh's first

pick that'll of course come at number 21 overall barring move up or a move down and the

most boring possible outlook I can offer is, in all

bluntness, the one that I'm going to offer, and that's that they're going to take a defensive

tackle. Why do I say that? Well, aside from the obvious that defensive tackle is a stirringly strong position at the top of this class,

aside from Larry O'Gunjobie no longer being on the roster and Cam Hayward getting up there,

at least in terms of official years, not necessarily in performance, a case can strongly be made for why that it'd be a fine positional

outcome. I could instead just take you through a tour of process of elimination. We could bring up

for the bazillionth time that there don't appear to be quarterbacks in that range, at least not

comfortably so.

You've got Cam Ward at one, and then you've got just this endless series of question

marks to the extreme that the mocks are all over creation.

They have some going in the top 10, they have some not being taken until very late in the first

round, into the second, into the third. All depends on the name. All depends on the mocker.

There are running backs, but again, it's top heavy for the guys that you absolutely can't

pass up, the Ashton Gentile, O' Marion Hampton types. And then, you know, you can wait.

You can wait until even as late as the third round to get one that you really like. And then

there's the edge rushers. There's Abdul Carter out of Penn State. Outstanding prospect. Jalen

Walker out of Georgia. Mike Green from Marshall,

and the names go on and on and on from there because the consensus is that while the defensive
