If your favorite football team had an actual football game this Sunday, the quarterback would be Mason Rudolph, backup quarterback would be Will Howard, and Aaron Rogers would be nowhere to be found.

From the opening of the NFL draft, I'm reminded that the Steelers still don't have their targeted starting quarterback in Rogers.

And I'm also reminded by an event yesterday that they're pretty much okay with that.

At a banquet in Green Bay, celebrating Bob Harlan, the Packers longtime president,

Mike McCarthy was asked a question by the MC on hand about whether or not Rogers, their old boy, is actually going to come back and play.

To which McCarthy responded, quote, it'd be a great story. I don't know. And I'd love to tell

everybody breaking news, but it's really cool to see Aaron at 42. To see a young man at 22 and all of what he's been able to accomplish and where he's at in his personal life and trying to make this decision, he's in a really good place.

End quote. Now, you might recall that a year ago at this time, I was going borderline ballistic over what I saw as

Mike Tomlin singularly bending over backward for Rogers. Well, time has passed. Tomlin's not

around anymore. The behavior remains.

Now, another big difference, at least in my own life, since back then, is that I had a year

around Rogers that allayed well beyond any reasonable doubt, concerns that I'd had

about how invested he'd be, how much of a

stealer he'd be, how much of a Pittsburgher he'd be, he checked every box emphatically.

But that doesn't mean that this, this part right here can still just go on forever.

Now, Omar Khan has told us at D.K. Pittsburgh Sports, he's not setting

some sort of hard deadline and so forth, but behind the scenes, they are also acknowledging that
