Not so long after Ben Charrington sat at that press conference a couple days ago, he had to have reached around and pushed that figurative toggle from bot to human in an attempt to relate.

It sounded to me like an orchestrated attempt to relate to people who actually care about the franchise.

They fired David Bell, and they went somehow Lord Tito out of retirement,

Beaver County's own.

And I say that not because we're so provincial in Pittsburgh that dot, dot, dot, which we actually are, but because this franchise could use a winner. This franchise could use

someone who every single place he's been has crafted and sustained a winning culture, a winning mindset.

That's the Pittsburgh thing I've been talking about.

It doesn't need to be someone from Pittsburgh.

It doesn't even need to be someone who can find Pittsburgh on a map.

It needs to be someone who, like Clint Hurdle, took to the podium the day he was introduced and

told all of us reporters, stunned, sitting in that room, that it was he who interviewed

them way more than the other way around, meaning interviewing Bob Nutting, Frank Cooney,
