I'm going to tell you, I liked a lot of what I saw here.

What I might have liked more than anything.

It was the least assuming individual in the entire environment.

Yesterday at City Field here in New York, I covered the entire opening series for D.K. Pittsburgh Sports,

and I am going to share this with you, and what I hope is the

most respectful manner possible, but when I see Brandon Lau walking around the clubhouse or anywhere

in the team's environment, my initial inclination is to think he's just staff. This is not a big dude,

nor a particularly ripped dude. But my goodness, can he tear into a baseball?

Now, he had three home runs in his many games in this series, two in the very first, obviously.

The first of those was a bit of a wall scraper, wind aided, off to right field, but the other two

were punished. They were shots. I've covered quite a few games in this particular ballpark.

And I can attest that there really isn't any part of it that carries well.

And in fact, even before they built a second set of fences in front to try to allow for more home runs, this wasn't an easy place to poke one.

He poked two.

And when you're talking about somebody who poked 31 of those a year ago for the race, it's not

feeling like an accident, no matter how it is, that he looks.

Really nice start, really encouraging, I'm sure, for everybody involved, not just him,
