I just got back from New York and the Penguins' NHL season opener up there, and I had a couple of baseball things I wanted to share with you from there.

Good. Thursday morning. I'm Dan Kovachievich of D.K. Pittsburgh Sports. This is Daily Shot of Pirates. It comes your way bright and early every weekday.

There apparently was playoff baseball going on while I was up there.

I do not follow the playoffs in Major League Baseball.

I've spoken to this for years.

When the pirates are out of that terribly broken sport, so am I.

I have little to no interest, and it's closer to know to find out which team that grossly outspent everybody else is going to make it to the

World Series in either league.

And I have even less interest in whoever it is that winds up on top.

But oh my goodness, not so in our nation's biggest city.

For all the people walking up 7th Avenue while I was sitting inside a coffee shop with my daughter,

just kind of right in the front there, you do the people watching thing from the window.

For every four or five rangers, hockey sweaters, and bear in mind they were about to play a

block away, there were at least two or three Yankees jerseys. And even around us, in that

setting, you could see here and feel that baseball's playoffs were going on which served

as a reminder for me that baseball's playoffs were going on so i leave there filed that one away

and i'm walking toward the garden, the media entrance.

This is before face-off, obviously.

And I see a whole group of NHL executives that I know.
