My ballot for the baseball hall of fame was one out of 425 that would be cast.

So my voice on this is exactly 1 slash 425 of what counted. But I got something to say with my 1 slash

this. Two new members will be enshrined in Cooperstown this summer,

the result of the election that was announced last night,

per the vote of the eligible members of the Baseball Writers Association of America,

Carlos Beltron, and Andrew Jones received the requisite

75% vote.

Neither of them received my vote.

I'll get to mine at the end, and I won't really bother with Jones at all because the

Jones argument is a baseball one.

And that, to me, is subjective.

Cheating isn't.

Not the way the guidelines have been set up by the hall itself,

dating back to the original class of 1936,

the hallowed one that included Babe Ruth, our own Hannes Wagner. And those writers back

then, the one with the little hats that said press on the front of them, those guys had the

same guidelines to follow that I did a month ago in mailing my ballot.

And when I say the same guidelines, I mean not one syllable has changed from the original
