Pirates six, Tigers won yesterday at PNC Park.

The Pirates sweep a series from the team that had flown to Pittsburgh

with Major League Baseball's best record. This, naturally, following a series in which the

pirates were swept by the White Sox, the American League's worst team.

This marking the first such occasion, meaning you get swept by a league's worst team

and then sweep the league's best team in the very next series since the 1980 Padres.

So yeah, just 45 years ago, doesn't it seem like this group of pirates has been challenging

the historians and the researchers like every other day for some kind of extreme?

Well, as they'll all tell you themselves, that's baseball.

And the baseball that they got in this series,

there's no way I can do this job properly,

without praising when it's due,

was a very, very good one for your Pittsburgh baseball club in all phases.
