There are, of course, positive paths it can take.

There's the other path that it usually takes, which among those might lead to a change in management.

The Pirates are going to have a workout today this afternoon, specifically, at Lone Depot Park.

And within that, Todd Tomzick, the director of sports medicine for the team, is expected to address those of us reporters who will be there.

And within that, you're going to have your first update on the status of Jared Jones and the elbow that shut him down for the final week and change of spring training.

Now, here's obviously hoping for the best.

I mean, this is a terrific talent, a good kid.

Whatever it happens to be, however it plays out, whether it's the worst case scenario or whether it's, you know, just being told to

take it easy for a while, it's going to have a significant impact on the season and as such on the

team's performance. Jones, of course, was slotted in to be the number three starter behind

Paul Skeens and Mitch Keller and a really strong three at that.

And if he can't go, for whatever reason, for however long, any and all previously dire forecasts will become that much direer.

I think that's a word.
