You happen to notice that pitcher from Pittsburgh doing really, really well in the World Baseball Classic the other night?

This is Daily Shot of Pirates, presented by our friends at the North Shore Tavern, home of steak on a stone.

Comes your way bright and early every weekday. If you're into football and or hockey, I also cover two other teams in town.

Steelers and the Penguins and I offer daily shots on each of those

subjects as well. Twins five, Pirates won in Fort Myers. Yesterday, another dud offensively is

just a couple in a row, nothing to get alarmed about one would think one run on

six hits. The good thing is that the one run came on an RBI. Other way, single from Henry Davis.

Six total hits, only one for extra bases. Noah Davis got clocked again as a starter.

Mason Montgomery pitched really well in relief.

Perfect inning, two strikeouts.

Isaac Madsen gave up a hit and a walk in his inning,

but he got out of it and had a strikeout.

And this is where my attention's been as far as baseball goes.

I don't want to dig too deep a hole for myself here,

because I'm sure there's a lot of people who enjoy the World Baseball Classic. It's just a glorified spring exhibition. And anybody who's equating it to actual international competitions,

where everybody's all in, It's not being conducted while

almost everybody who's pitching is on some kind of severe march-like limit. Maybe someday

baseball will be back in the Olympics and Major League Baseball will participate, and that'll really be quite a sight.

As it is, the visuals, from what I've seen, can be pretty impressive.

And the visuals from the other night when the United States beat the Dominican Republic

2 to 1 made for quite the spectacle.
