Jason Robertson staying in Dallas, at least for a while,

and a lot of the anticipated major move mayhem throughout the NHL,

not really materializing, it can resurrect for the millionth time, I guess, this discussion or debate about what the

Penguins are trying to achieve, what Kyle Dubas, Jason Spetsa, and his staff have as

some master plan, and not just for the roster heading into the 2026, 27

NHL season, but beyond that, the stuff that we've been talking about for a couple of years

leading into this.

And one of the terms that will come up most critically will be that these guys are flailing,

that there's no real direction, that there's no real plan, and my goodness, look at them now,

you couldn't even make line combinations or defense pairings out of what they've put together

through right this second, the 23rd of July.

You can be certain that Dubus and Spezza and others in management pick up on this.

I don't even necessarily mean media.

I mean, just the public, the penguin's own fan base. And it's pretty plain that they aren't

wild about it. On the first of this month, Spezza was meeting with reporters. This was upon the

opening of the NHL's free agency.

And he was asked about Robertson, who at the time was without a contract from the stars.
