You remember all those shows I was doing for weeks, if not months, about how everybody could just have fun with this season?

I'm not going to lie. I didn't have this much fun in mind. Good morning to you. Good Friday morning.

Penguins 4, Islanders 3 in the home opener last night at PPG Paints

Arena, highly and peculiarly almost entertaining game for a regular season thing.

I'm going to give full credit to Patrick Waugh and his players, because the Islanders did something that the Rangers didn't, and that's, they cared.

They played really, really hard.

And as such, they gave the Penguins a test that was very different from the one the other night at Madison Square Garden.

However, it was a test that they passed, and they passed in pretty much every category.

And while I'll join everybody in the city in congratulating Harrison Brunick on not just a first NHL goal,

but a really nice first NHL goal flying down the

rink using the D-Man as a screen, blowing the puck past Ilya Sorokin, who I thought was

terrific. The fact is that a lot like the other night at the garden, the Penguins were very much led by the core players,

the three who got saluted in a really nice ceremony just before the game commemorating

their 20th year together as teammates.

But yeah, it's one thing to see that, and it's quite another to see them just go out

and win a hockey game. I understand they've been doing it for a long time. They've got 19 years

of history of doing that. But that did not stop me from asking Chris LaTang afterward.
