Kyle Dubus has made clear on more than one occasion, and publicly so, that he wasn't pleased with Eric Carlson's overall performance this past season.

Well, as I've shared with you previously, and we'll reiterate today, the same was kind of true in the reverse.

It's not that Carlson was unhappy in Pittsburgh and certainly not that he was unhappy

with his teammates.

It's just a tremendous teammate.

Or even with his general usage, with how Mike Sullivan applied him, with being taken off the top power play in favor of

Matt Griswick, who now they don't even feel is worth keeping as a cheap, unrestricted free agent.

It wasn't any of that stuff.

Carlson is, and I think even his most ardent critics would agree with me on this count, a special

offensive talent, an extraordinary offensive talent, a likely Hall of Fame offensive talent,

once his career is all done, and all of his various point totals and awards are added up.
