Picture if all six your favorite hockey team's games had been officiated intelligently,

which is to say if it wasn't for those two losses, they're legitimately awful

reffing in those games. You get where I'm going with this. Good morning to you. Good Monday morning.

I'm Dan Kovachievich of D.K. Pittsburgh Sports. This is Daily Shot of Penguins. It comes your way

bright and early every weekday. If you're into football and or baseball, I also

offer daily shots of Steelers and Pirates in the same place that you found this. Penguins came

home yesterday following a two-and-one trip through California. Quality wins, I thought, over both

the Kings and the Sharks to end it, and then that mind-blowing loss to the ducks in which Anaheim was handed every power play, even though the Penguins statistically, measurably dominated five-on-five play.

But overall, they're four and two, which in terms of points percentage, is tied for eighth best in the entire league.

What's more, all four of those wins have come in regulation, which as we all know counts a whole heck of a lot more when you get to playoff time.

And yeah, I can talk about that. They don't have to.

You don't have to. I told you before the season started, I was going to focus on this franchise's

development and maturity based on the simplest available metric.

And that's did they make the playoffs or did they not?

Because if they make the playoffs, all kinds of things would have had to go right with the development,

with the youth, with the new coach, and, hardly to be omitted here, with

Sidney Crosby. It's the grand catch-all. And I get that it's not going to be something that

sends anybody inside, probably not even outside, over the top. It's a four and two start.
