on step one and on step three so just make sure you know the

stuff well okay question number one what if they give you a question about a

patient the person comes to the office seeking contraception and they really don't have any real

contraindications and then they ask which of the following represents the first

line option for this patient what should you regard as the first line kind of

contraceptive especially if the person does not have contraindications? I hope you're

saying oh the van is going to be a lark what does lark stand for a lark is a long-acting

reversible contraceptive a longer-acting reversible contraceptive and there are two things that fall under this category.

Because some people think it's only IUDs that are following here.

No.

IUDs are an example of a lark,

but the subdermal progestin implant, the stuff you put under your arm, the last three years, is also considered to be a lark.

In general, those are the most effective kinds of contraceptives. They're extremely effective. I guess the only

contraceptive that is 100% effective is abstinence. Absentence is 100 so you

just don't have sex. It's 100% effective. But these larks, if a person don't have sex is 100% effective.

But these larks, if a person doesn't have any contraindications,

they are first line on your exams.

That's very important to keep in mind.
