My Childhood Haunt Story

When I was in second or third grade, in the mid-80s, my family moved us to a small town in Kentucky along the Ohio River.

The house was very, very old and within walking distance of a cemetery.

It was a fairly average-looking house with some quaint features such as old-fashioned hand-turned doorbells.

In the bedroom my sister and I shared, there was a trap door that led to the cellar.

It blended seamlessly into the floor.

You never know it was there.

This cellar was not a normal root cellar.

The walls were made of old stone mortared together and the floors were coated with fine black dust.

I remember my dad telling us it was coal dust from storing coal down there long ago. The walls were
