Good morning's. We're going through 1 Corinthians chapter by chapter and verse by verse.

And today we're going to be in verses 5 and 6. However, I will begin for the sake of context reading in verse 1.

So once you find your way there, if you're able, I'll ask you to stand.

You can follow along with me as I read if not that's all right the Apostle Paul by the Holy Spirit is

writing in verse 1 says for I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact brothers

and sisters that our ancestors were all under

the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. They were all, verse 2, baptized into Moses

in the cloud and in the sea. They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink,

for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.

Nevertheless, verse 5, God was not pleased with most of them. Their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.

Now, these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did.

Let's pray. Loving Heavenly Father, our posture before you this morning is one of humility and simplicity, readily acknowledging our need for you. Our need to hear what the Spirit

has to say to this, your church. Lord, we are hungry and we are thirsty and we know that only you can satiate that hunger

and that thirst that we have. So Lord, will you do that? We're asking you for this in Jesus

of a new series we began last week titled disqualifications for Christians it's really

important that I preface today's teaching with a reminder concerning the context

in which Paul is discussing disqualification. Please know that it's not in the context of one losing

their salvation. It's in the context rather of one losing their rewards.

And this is why Paul uses the Israelites as an example.

They had been disqualified from the promised land.

They have been disqualified from entering the promised land.
