happy Friday it's four o'clock in New York a small Ohio City is once again today at the center of a MAGA-fueled

disinformation firestorm and it should be seen as a canary and a coal mine for every American

living in every community.

52 days to election day and the choice before us is as stark as it's ever been.

Will we reject the peddlers of racism and disinformation and hate and lies that's

fueling and targeting innocent communities and innocent people or will we hand

the keys over to a group of people who would not

wait a second to turn any community in America into another Springfield, Ohio as long as it, in their minds at least, advances their political agenda.

So here's the backstory on all of this.

A racist and bizarre conspiracy theory about Haitian immigrants eating people's dogs and cats who live in that

city spread in large part by neo-Nazis as NBC news reports today went from

the darkest corners of the internet to the mouths of elected Republicans like Ted Cruz

and then leapt to the national debate stage thanks to the unhinged rantings of the ex-president.

It's now roiling this community and everybody in it. Today two

elementary schools had to be evacuated and a middle school was shut down as a result of

bomb threats. The mayor of the town telling the Washington Post

that the threats, quote, used hateful language

toward immigrants and Haitians in our community.

The mayor even had to go on national television and say this.

Springfield is still beautiful and your pets are safe in Springfield, Ohio.

Safe.
