Hi everybody.

Happy New Year to you.

Turn your Bibles if you would to Exodus 32.

I want to talk to you tonight.

The title of this message is called Discovering Our True God.

And I want us to think as we begin 2004,

I want us to think kind of deeply tonight about our worship, worshiping God and really if we truly

worship God the way that we should.

I know you love the Lord and I know you believe in the Lord and I don't

question that at all. But I want to talk to you tonight about the way we worship the

Lord and if God really is the one that we worship the most. This is kind of an odd text of scripture that we're going to read.

You're familiar with it, I'm sure. This is where the children of Israel make a golden calf that they

began to worship. And it's really an odd scripture. The Children of Israel had lived in Egypt

for 400 years. And much of that time they had been under cruel bondage to Pharaoh. And you remember

God sent Moses as a deliver to the children of Israel, Moses came down, and through

ten miracles the children of Israel were delivered from cruel oppression in Egypt, and they went into the wilderness now which was only supposed

to be really their home for just a few months until they got to the Promised Land.

Unfortunately, their mistakes in the wilderness

caused them to live there for 40 years.

God never intended that.

But the wilderness was a tough time

for the children of Israel because their hearts
