On a storm-soaked night in June of 1900, just outside McDonough, Georgia, a Southern Railway passenger train plunged into the flooded waters of Camp Creek, triggering one of the deadliest train disasters in Georgia history. 2:45.5	Conscriptions on the pedestal honored Confederate veterans and listed the dates of the Civil War, and for more than a century, this monument defined the center of McDonough downtown, that is, until June of 2020.
