There's a version of the movie that doesn't have any apes in it.

It's got Andy Circus and the other performers.

And that movie has to work before you start spending the tens of tens of millions of dollars.

I mean, frame by frame, these effects are so incredibly expensive.

It's ridiculous.

Director Matt Reeves knew his new film, War for the Planet of the

Apes, had to work even without any help from computer-generated effects. He shot the whole

film first with his actors in special motion capture suits, and he finds it so compelling

he'd like to release that version as a DVD extra. Reeves tells us about making the transition

from directing smaller films to big

franchise movies and offers some early thoughts on his next project, The Batman. But first on
