Hello, hello, everyone. Welcome back to the Epic Gardening podcast. We have Meg

0:16.5

Cowden back on the show today. She is the founder of Seed to Fork. She's in zone 4a slash

0:22.4

b slash sometimes a 3b. I guess it all depends these days up in Minnesota. And we've been

0:28.6

talking about a fall garden. Meg does a lot of season extension, a lot of zone bending,

0:33.4

a lot of succession planting. She has a book coming out later, which we will maybe talk

0:38.5

a little bit about Meg, but we're talking today about direct seeding, which is something

0:43.6

that I will confess. I actually don't do a ton of, which is weird because in my climate

0:49.0

you could do a lot of it, but I'm managing, I guess I'm just managing the garden kind

0:53.3

of differently than the typical gardener because maybe I'm growing something, you know,

0:56.8

to educate on it, rather than to, you know, grow it because I absolutely love to eat

1:01.2

it, right? And so I do a lot of transplanting and starting seeds and just moving them

1:05.5

out into the garden. But you've got this idea of direct seeding the easy way for a fall

1:09.3

garden. So I'd love to hear about it. Yeah, and I am 100% with you, Kevin. I am kind

1:14.8

of a control freak and I do prefer to sow indoors and transplant stars because I feel

1:21.9

like they're stronger. I mean, I can't imagine putting broccoli seeds in my garden and all

1:28.2

the pest pressure that would happen to like the cattle eatins potentially. And, you know,

1:32.9

you definitely mitigate a lot of early pressure and can control a lot of factors when you

1:38.0

endorse so. But there are a ton of great crops that are super easy to direct seed. And

1:46.2

I can't imagine your indoor-fowing radishes, Kevin. I mean, come on.

1:50.3

Well, I'll be honest with you. I've done it, actually. But no, in general, I don't do that.

1:55.7

Okay. You've done it to be like, I've done that. I've done it to be, I've done, yeah,

1:59.6

I've direct zone or sorry, I've transplanted peas, beans, radish, turnip speeds and even carrots
