All right. Welcome. My name is Divine. This is episode 650 of the Divine Intervention podcast. And in today's podcast, we're going to focus on nutrition, right? Nutrition and the USMLEs. As many of us know, the USMLEs, I mean, they've always tested nutrition. I don't know why this is such a big shocker to people. But the thing is basically across step one, step two, second, step three, starting in June of this year, they're going to start testing, you know, nutrition in a more enhanced fashion, if you may.

0:35.2

So I just kind of want to talk through many of the key concepts

0:38.0

so that you're kind of ready for your for your exams. So I'm going to call this the USMLEs and

nutrition, right? And again, remember, nutrition is not just about biochemistry, right? That's

0:49.3

probably like the big bent that they used back in the day, right? But the US Emilys, they are basically moving

0:55.5

toward testing, you know, whether, you know, future physicians can connect nutrition science

1:01.0

to like patient care, you know, like preventing disease and things like that. You're,

1:06.2

you're going to see, I'm not going to do any political anything, right? I'm going to hit on the

1:26.1

Diet is linked to cancer,

1:27.7

right? Because the thing is, all these things are related, like your diet to high blood pressure,

1:32.4

to obesity, to diabetes, to prediabetes, and all those things, right? So it's just key to keep

1:38.7

these things in mind. Now, I'll say the US Emilys with regards to nutrition. What are some key

1:43.2

things they love to emphasize for each of the concepts?

1:46.1

Number one, what's the mechanism? Right. Number two, how do you manage this problem? Right. Number three, what should you look for? Like, what are the key things you should look for that should make you realize that this patient has this problem? Right. So I think the first thing I want to talk about here as a foundation for all of this,

2:02.7

or the difference between macro and micronutrients, right? So I think the first thing I want to talk about here as a foundation

2:01.6

for all of this, or the difference between macro and micronutrients, right? Again, you may think

2:06.0

some of these things are like filler, but you'd be surprised by how they go after these, right? So

2:10.8

remember, macronutrients are like the big foods, right? Like your carbs, your proteins, your fiber,
