These days, just making tons of money for shareholders isn't the only thing that can

make you a celebrated CEO.

Many consumers are telling companies that it isn't enough to just be profitable.

You need to be ethical.

You need to act right on issues like racial and gender equity, climate change, and hello,

how you treat your workers.

This puts leaders in a kind of unfamiliar territory because stock prices and cash flow

statements won't tell you how to do right by the people who work every day in your organization.

So maybe we can draw from the past to imagine what big, bold, progressive moves CEOs can

make to help more people live happily ever after.
