Welcome to the Tom Hartman University Book Club. Today we're reading from Bob Ney's book, Side Swiped, Lessons Learned, Courtesy of the Hit Men of Capitol Hill.

Bob was the only member of Congress.

He was a Republican congressman.

In fact, he was the guy who invented the phrase freedom fries.

That far right, yes.

He's the only member of Congress who spoke farsi which is the language they

speak in iran the iranian government during the bush administration george w bush

sent a letter to or delivered a letter to bob in farcy because he spoke farsi saying that

they were willing to recognize israel and stop their nuclear program in exchange for recognition by the United States.

Bob delivered that to the Bush White House, and within a short time, Bob found himself in a federal prison.

And that letter never surfaced, and that rapprochmont never happened. It's an amazing story.
