| 0:00.0 | Hi everyone, it's Arundhati and welcome to another episode of the Let's Talk Yoga podcast. Today, we're diving |
| 0:06.9 | deep into two concepts that have become synonymous with yoga and the wellness culture. And that is |
| 0:13.9 | meditation and mindfulness. I got the idea for this conversation when I was in southern Italy, I was there to attend a restorative |
| 0:22.6 | yoga retreat and one afternoon I was just lying in this lovely hammock staring into space |
| 0:27.9 | and that's when I was contemplating some things about meditation and mindfulness. |
| 0:34.0 | And to be honest, we see these pretty much everywhere, right? |
| 0:37.3 | From social media to phone apps in yoga studios, in corporate boardrooms and even in hospitals, it's being used as therapy. |
| 0:47.6 | But I want to do a breakdown of what is meditation and what is mindfulness for the yoga teacher teaching a yoga class in a |
| 0:57.3 | modern day yoga studio. Let's talk about the similarities, the differences, the history and |
| 1:04.3 | origin, some cultural context. What do you teach first? Is it mindfulness? Is it meditation? Does one lean on the other? Who should practice meditation? Who should practice mindfulness? And to be honest, often, we misrepresent meditation. We wrongly label some mindfulness practices as meditation. So I wanted to have this clean, clear-cut conversation on the podcast. |
| 1:31.9 | And we'll even look at how to measure your own success when you are meditating or being |
| 1:38.5 | mindful. |
| 1:39.6 | And I'll share some examples that you can share with your students in classes as well. Okay. So before we get to |
| 1:46.8 | it, please remember to rate and subscribe to this podcast. And if you have an extra 10 seconds in |
| 1:52.9 | your day, please leave us a review. You can also use the review tab to leave me topic suggestions and questions. I was listening to another and it had |
| 2:05.0 | nothing to do with yoga and that's where I saw that they were using this, the review part in |
| 2:10.5 | Apple Podcasts as a way to source questions from their community. And I think it's a wonderful idea. |
| 2:17.0 | So if you have topic suggestions |
| 2:19.2 | and questions that you would love for me to address on the show, then make sure to leave |
| 2:24.7 | them there or you know where to find me on Instagram. Let's get to today's show. |
| 2:31.9 | Hi everyone. I'm Arundati and you've just tuned in to the Let's Talk Yoga podcast, your ultimate online destination for learning about yoga. |
| 2:41.1 | Whether you're a seasoned yoga teacher or a curious yoga student, there's something for you here. |
