nearly 80,000 of them came here to the German capital. Along with my producer Laura I've been following five of the new arrivals

as they settle in and grapple with the complexities of a new language. In the first edition of De Klassen, most of them had been in Germany for

Then there's Ahmed a man in his 50s with a wicked sense of humour.

He was finding it hard to make time to go to class.

That's why sometimes I cannot follow the school at morning.

Then there's the other Ahmed, Ahmed El Bartushi. He's in his late 20s.

Yeah, I have started from one week from the beginning of the

Is it hard for you, like, I mean, have you got loads of time to practice German or if there are

loads of other things that you have to do? I think I need more time to learn

because it's very difficult language.
