But first let's drop her into history. In 1766, after less than a year, British Parliament repealed the Stamp Act after colonists in British America kind of objected.

The first patent was granted for a fairly ineffective fire escape consisting of a wicker basket, a chain and a pulley.

A hundred and twenty-one years later, a woman, an iconally, patented an iron railed bridge version that was much safer.

Queen's College in New Jersey was founded nearly 60 years later, it was renamed after a revolutionary war hero and philanthropist, Colonel Henry Rutgers.
