he wasn't able to because his reign was so short. In fact the only reason why

anyone really remembers him is because of how he became Emperor.

So who was Didius Julianus and what were the circumstances which allowed him to come to

power?

Didius Julianus had a pretty privileged upbringing.

He was born around the year 133 in what was in the city of

Mediolanum, which is the modern day city of Milan. His family was extremely wealthy, which

is the one thing about him you probably need to know.

Two of his ancestors on his mother's side were consoles, which was a very big deal in Rome.

It gave him and his family a great deal of prestige.
