| 0:00.0 | Hello everyone and welcome to the Psych Legal Pop Podcast. This is a podcast where two sisters talk about popular culture through the lens of an attorney and a therapist. I'm Brooke Brigham. I'm the attorney. And I'm Tess Brigham. I'm the therapist. And today we have a couple of pot topics in the pop culture world that we are going to discuss. |
| 0:23.3 | I'm going to start out by talking about Sean Combs' appeal of his conviction for two counts of violating the Mann Act, which is a federal law that prohibits people from transporting people across state |
| 0:42.8 | lines for purposes of sex trafficking, prostitution. |
| 0:48.1 | That's what he was convicted of. |
| 0:50.4 | And we can talk a little bit about the man act and kind of the strange route that it has |

| 1:24.2 | much larger sentences. But he was sentenced to a total of 50 months, so a little |
| 1:30.3 | bit over four years for those two counts of violation of the Mann Act. And actually, the |
| 1:35.2 | Mann Act carries a maximum sentence of 10 years per charge. Oh, okay. He was facing 20 years. So to get |
| 1:42.5 | four years, that's not that bad. |
| 1:45.9 | Yeah. |
| 1:46.9 | And of course, Sean is, you know, not happy to do this. |
| 1:52.3 | That's just four years too long. |
| 1:54.4 | It's four years too long for him. |
| 1:56.3 | Yeah. |
| 1:56.6 | To the point where he filed, or his attorneys attorneys filed a motion to have his appeal expedited. |
| 2:07.4 | Because he needs to get back to work. |
| 2:09.7 | Yes. |
| 2:10.1 | Yes. |
| 2:10.9 | And well, you know, the lube is it going to the lube is put itself on. |
