Hello everyone and welcome to the Psych Legal Pop Podcast. This is a podcast where two sisters talk about popular culture through the lens of an attorney and a therapist. I'm Brooke Brigham. I'm the attorney. And I'm Tess Brigham. I'm the therapist. And today we have a couple of pot topics in the pop culture world that we are going to discuss.

I'm going to start out by talking about Sean Combs' appeal of his conviction for two counts of violating the Mann Act, which is a federal law that prohibits people from transporting people across state

lines for purposes of sex trafficking, prostitution.

That's what he was convicted of.

And we can talk a little bit about the man act and kind of the strange route that it has

taken throughout history to get to this point. But just to bring us up to speed, Sean Combs was

convicted in July of 2025 of those two counts. He was also facing two much more serious counts of sex trafficking

and violation of the RICO statute. And he was acquitted of those two charges, which carried

much larger sentences. But he was sentenced to a total of 50 months, so a little

bit over four years for those two counts of violation of the Mann Act. And actually, the

Mann Act carries a maximum sentence of 10 years per charge. Oh, okay. He was facing 20 years. So to get

four years, that's not that bad.

And of course, Sean is, you know, not happy to do this.
