Did Russia play a role in downing a passenger plane?

Hello again, I'm Warren Olney, and this is To the Point from Public Radio International

that daily look at the issues, Americans care about most.

President Obama said this today, about 298 passengers aboard the Malaysian Boeing

Triple-7 shot down yesterday over eastern Ukraine.

Their deaths are an outrage of unspeakable proportions.

The president said it's too early to place the blame, but the U.S. is raising tough questions about Russia's involvement. We'll hear about international outrage and the

search for accountability. We'll go to Gaza to update Israel's invasion. Later on our program,

should Central American children who've reached America's borders be sent back to the murder

capital of the world.

First, this news update, Israeli tanks crossed into Gaza last night, and today, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that the incursion may widen.

President Obama told reporters he spoke with Netanyahu by phone.

I reaffirmed my strong support for Israel's right to defend itself. No nation should accept rockets being fired into its borders or terrorists tunneling into its territory.

In fact, while I was having the conversation with Prime Minister Nanyao, sirens went off in Tel Aviv. I also made clear that the United States and our
