The now former President Donald Trump has been acquitted in his Senate impeachment trial, the second impeachment

trial that president faced.

So was it all for not?

Does this have any implications for future impeachments?

trial of Donald Trump. So just in time for Valentine's Day and President's Day,

the Senate acquitted Donald Trump in his second impeachment

trial in about a year.

This vote was 57 to 43, that is 10 votes shy of the required two-thirds majority of members of the Senate,

but seven Republicans voted with all the Democrats to convict a president of their party.

So that is the most bipartisan presidential impeachment vote in history.

So we should say, hooray, question mark.

Right on.

Yeah, it holds that title really only on a technicality.

So maybe we should hold the champagne.

The technicality is that Richard Nixon quit,

you skip town before the full house could vote.

But a number of Republicans did get to vote on articles of impeachment for Richard Nixon.

The House Judiciary Committee passed three of them and there were 17 Republicans on that

committee and seven of them voted for at least one article of impeachment, the same amount, 7 out of 17 instead of 7 out of 50.
