Summary

The debate over masks continues to both divide and confuse Americans. Besides seemingly making the national patchwork of rules and mandates even harder to manage, the CDC's latest mask guidelines also came out just as the agency was under fire from both sides for being too cautious. Republicans even accused the agency and the Biden Administration of playing politics with the mask issue. Dr. Jerome Adams, the former U.S. Surgeon General under President Trump, discusses whether politics played a role in the CDC's latest mask guidelines, why he thinks the Biden White House "fumbled the ball at the one yard line," and what the federal government needs to do now to address vaccine hesitancy. The Colonial Pipeline is up and running again after it was forced to shut down last week following a cybersecurity attack by the DarkSide ransomware gang. The shutdown led to widespread gasoline shortages and an increase of prices across the East coast. The latest hack of the major fuel pipeline is bringing up the energy debate in the U.S. and what the future of the oil and gas industry will look like. Since taking office in January, President Biden ended the Keystone XL Pipeline via executive order and reentered the U.S. into the 2016 Paris climate agreement, pledging to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Senator James Lankford (R-OK) joins today's Rundown to discuss what the latest pipeline hack has taught us, why he thinks people need to be realistic when it comes to protecting the environment and having clean air and water in the U.S. Plus, he weighs in on whether the government should have a role in investing in green jobs. Plus, commentary by Guy Benson, host of the Guy Benson Show. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
