Summary

Dr. Leighton Flowers, Director of Evangelism and Apologetics, answers a question about apparent contradictions of John Piper when addressing the natural condition of man and the guilt for the sinfulness of our ancestors. Some seem to think that Piper's answer on one broadcast are so inconsistent with the claims of Calvinistic soteriology that he must have recanted, but that is not likely. Hello and welcome back to Sochiology 101.

I want to first thank all of our patrons who continue to make this broadcast possible

0:45.3

Piper's teachings. As I've said thousands of times before, I have a lot of respect for John Piper,

0:50.0

though I disagree with him quite vehemently, obviously, on his sociology. I used to be in agreement

0:55.5

with him. He was one of the people that I read and listened to most regularly back when I was a

0:59.9

Calvinist. I even had him come speak at our youth evangelism conference when I was a director of that.

1:04.5

I found him to be a very humble, gracious man, still do find him to be that way in his life,

1:09.8

and his ministry are above a reproach in that

1:12.8

in that sense but I disagree with him obviously on the conclusions that he has with regard to Calvinism

1:18.7

and I get messages about John Piper pretty regularly because he puts out a regular ask

1:24.7

John Piper question broadcast where he answers a lot of really tough

1:29.3

issues. And I respect him for his willingness to dive in to those tough issues. And 99% of the

1:34.3

time I agree with his answers and appreciate his feedback on many relevant issues within our

1:41.0

culture today. And sometimes I get questions and push back from those

1:45.4

who follow my broadcast who say things like, well, it doesn't seem like John Piper is a Calvinist

1:50.7

in this message, or they'll send him another link saying, did John Piper give up Calvinism?

1:56.5

Is he stopped being a Calvinist now? Because listen to what he says here. And they'll ask the question quite regularly.
