In recent court documents, Disgraced Pastor Robert Morris said he told all the elders at Gateway Church three times that he had molested a child.

In 2005, 2007, and 2011, Morris claims he told the elders all the details that his victim, Cindy Clemishire, was only 12 when the abuse started

and 17 when it stopped. But two of the most prominent elders from that time say they had no idea.

I was on my couch. The phone rang. Pam was sitting there and I put it on speakerphone because

it was a long-time friend of mine. And Pam listened to the phone call. And we went, what? I mean, you can't imagine.

Pastor Brady Boyd is now the senior pastor of New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

But from 2001 to 2007, he served as both an elder and an associate senior pastor at Gateway Church

under Robert Morris. Similarly,

well-known Bible teacher Jimmy Evans served as either a Gateway Elder or Apostolic Elder during

all the years Morris says he disclosed his abuse to Gateway's board. Evans also frequently

filled in for Morris on weekends. But in a letter to supporters last week, Evans claimed Morris deceived him, first saying he had an affair with a woman, then saying the girl was 16 years old.

16 was the legal age of consent in Oklahoma at the time.

Evans wrote, had Morris told me the truth about Ms. Clemishire's age and the extent of the abuse,

I would have immediately reported him to the appropriate authorities. But is this true?

In 2007, something happened at New Life Church that caused quite a stir both at New Life and at Gateway.

First, New Life founding pastor Ted Haggard resigned amid a sex scandal that captured national headlines.

Then, the church appointed a nine-member pastoral search committee to find a replacement for Haggard.

The committee was comprised of lay leaders, staff, and two prominent pastors,

executive pastor Lance Coles, and senior executive pastor Brian Newberg.

So nine of us began seeking the Lord.
