Hi, I'm Dave. I started walking for fitness in 2013,

and still take an intentional fitness walk every single day.

Before I answer Lydia's question, received a number of very heartfelt and personal messages,

letting me know that you were thinking of Ava following her surgery and praying for you.

I'm deeply grateful for each one of those, answered each one personally.

One of the things that we learned following her accident, which had a very long recovery period,

that even when she was moving forward and there was progress in her recovery,

there would be the occasional day when it felt like things were going backwards.

And Ava's first full day at home after the surgery, she had major abdominal surgery.

Her first full day at home was one of those days that felt like a step backwards.

And primarily, I think, we both think it was an issue of energy, calories in versus calories out.

The body expends an awful lot of calories, healing and recovering from surgery.
