As we wrote today being Wednesday and first read, a lot happened in politics on Tuesday,

but did anything fundamentally change.

Yes, Democrats moved on one of their voting access bill, the For the People Act, up for debate

in the Senate and as expected, we've blocked it with a filibuster.

It's lost, but it really is an own goal, if you will, this piece of legislation was designed

to lose.

It was supposed to be just a messaging bill and it was written all the way back in 2019.

It was never designed to be a serious law until suddenly people thought it was.

Voting rights are important, but this bill was written before all the restrictions that

Republicans have been putting in place in the state level following the 2020 election.

Not was an actual reaction to what's been happening in the last few months, so could Democrats

have avoided this self-complicated wound if their leadership was more honest with the progressive

base or if the activists on the left won out over the pragmatists, even when it leads

to losses and priorities like voting rights.

Where was the Biden White House in this battle over realism versus activism?
