Summary

Typically, college football programs didn't know what their full rosters would look like until the beginning of summer. For example, Ohio State added defensive end Beau Atkinson via the portal in June last year. Not that Atkinson was a huge addition, but he's just one of many examples across the country.

Well, due to the one-time transfer portal window in January, teams now know what their rosters will look like before they even enter spring ball. Ohio State also made some key additions to its coaching staff. So, with spring ball less than a month away, do we feel like the Buckeyes checked all the necessary boxes during the whirlwind "offseason?"

0:36.2	My man, even on Friday the 13th, it's BTA Fridays. It is BTA Friday. It's good to see, as always. We're less than a month away from spring ball kicking off. So Jay Book and I are going to get into, did the Buckeyes check all the necessary boxes this offseason as far as player acquisitions, coaching hirings? One of the interesting things is, like, they know their team now because of the one-time transfer window. It's not going to be guys coming in in the summer other than a few guys in the very few guys in the 2026 recruiting class. So we're going to get into that. We're going to answer some of your questions. Jay Buck, I'll just turn it over to you, my man. Do you feel like Ohio State checked all their necessary boxes this offseason?

1:20.6	Going into the offseason day, you know what the number one issue was for me?

1:35.6	that was my one area that i'm like whatever happens you need to get that figured out because i truly
1:43.1	believe the lack of special teams play at a high level has cost Ryan Day maybe a national championship, maybe this Ohio State team or program being considered as one of the dynasty elites.
1:57.4	There are still elite as far as college football.
2:00.3	Don't get me wrong, but I'm talking about
2:01.6	that rare air of dynasty where consistently playing in the national championship. And I think a
2:08.7	large part of that was because of the special teams. So getting that figured out, that right there
2:14.7	was one of my biggest things that I wanted to see addressed.

2:20.0	Doubling down, tripling down, like bringing into Notre Dame walk kicker, a walk on kicker this week as well.
2:26.5	So Ryan Day's checking all the boxes when it comes to the special teams, bringing in a designated coach.

2:36.0	i the way they had is structured as far as position coaches being in charge of special teams
2:44.4	they only have so much time because their main focus where they're making their bread and butter
