year in 2024.

But the word is in shittification, how things and how everything has gone to shit.

And basically what this is, it's describing your relationship with social media platforms.

Started out great, you thought they loved you, then suddenly you see advertising you didn't

think you would basically get, then suddenly your data has been harvested for somebody else,

then before you know it, the experience is shite.

Kari Doctro is an amazing thinker, a science fiction writer, an internet philosopher,

and he is on the line now to explain the word, the book, the concept, incitification.

Nice to see you too. Thank you for having me on.

Now, Corey, incitification has not only struck a chord, it has become a word of the year, a couple of years back, to describe what people are feeling about their experience with internet platforms.

Explain to us what is enshittification, what is the feeling, what is the experience, number one,

and number two, how does this happen?

So to talk about inshittification, I have to provide just a little bit of context or background here.

For now, I'm in my 25th year working for an American nonprofit called the Electronic Frontier
