Summary

Dial In is a devotional series with the intention of helping followers of Christ understand God’s word and love Him more. Jonny seeks to communicate the profound depth of scripture in a digestible and condensed format each weekday. The goal of the podcast is that our “minds would be renewed” as we behold who God is in His word.

0:03.0	In our last episode, we looked briefly at John's prologue and talked about three truths regarding Jesus.
0:09.0	Number one, that Jesus is God, number two, that Jesus is Creator, and number three, that Jesus became flesh.
0:15.0	We also saw John's purpose for why he writes the gospel, which he stays in John chapter 20, verse 31. These things I write to you
0:22.8	so that you may believe Jesus is the Christ, and in believing you might have life in his name.
0:29.9	Today we're going to continue our study by focusing on a different John, John the Baptist.
0:34.4	We first saw him reference in John chapter 1, verse 6, and we're going to continue to see a little bit more about him starting in verse 19.
0:41.2	The gospel writer starts off the testimony, trying to establish the deity of Christ with the most credible person possible.
0:48.5	John the Baptist, the last Old Testament prophet, and the first New Testament preacher, the cousin of Jesus, and potentially the most neglected figure in all of the New Testament.
0:59.0	Today we're going to be in John chapter 1, verses 19 through 37.

1:18.0	and levites from Jerusalem to ask him who are you he confessed and did not deny but confessed
1:23.2	I am not the Christ and they asked him what then are you Elijah he said I am not are you the prophet and asked him, what then? Are you Elijah? He said, I am not.
1:28.6	Are you the prophet?
1:29.7	And he answered, no.
1:30.9	So they said to him, who are you?
1:32.5	We need to give an answer to those who sent us.
1:34.9	What do you say about yourself?
1:36.8	He said, I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness.
1:39.6	Make straight the way of the Lord, as the prophet Isaiah said.
1:42.2	Now they had been sent from the Pharisees.
